Industrial Action

Ref: SEM/KR

25 November 2011

Dear Parent/Carer

You will be aware from media coverage that a number of public sector unions have balloted for industrial action on Wednesday 30 November 2011.

The following unions have all voted to take industrial action on the above date; UNISON, Unite, NUT, ATL, GMB and NASUWT. There is a greater number of members of the teaching unions taking action than was the case on Thursday 30 June 2011, when the Academy remained open for students in all years.

Unfortunately, due to the number of teaching staff who will be involved in the strike action on 30 November 2011, it is with great reluctance that we will have to close for students in years 7, 8 and 9. However, we will remain open for students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 who should attend as normal, as their education at this stage of their academic career is vital.

We regret that we have been forced into this position as we appreciate that making alternative arrangements for your children may be difficult.

Yours faithfully

Mr S E Moon
Principal
