IB Fun Day
Time to Become Everything you CanDear student,
IB Fun Day
We would like to invite you to an IB Fun Day on Friday, 18 July 2008 at 10:00 am.
You will have the chance to meet members of staff and others who have applied to do the IB in the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere of an “It’s a Knockout” competition. It will also give you an opportunity to discuss any further issues relating to the IB course and your subject choices and we will give you information about what to do when you get your results.
Please meet in the Sixth Form Common Room at 10:00 am - you should wear trainers and dress appropriate to both the weather and the activities, and ensure you have no sharp objects in your pockets. We will finish by 1:00 pm and Café Express will be open.
Please return the reply slip by Friday June 20 2008.
International Opportunities
One of the key elements of the IB is to provide you with an awareness of other cultures and open up opportunities to sample and learn about life in other countries. To this end, the College is currently making links with schools and colleges in different parts of the world.
Two members of staff will shortly be visiting Gibraltar to help to introduce Young Enterprise to the schools there. We then hope to send our own Young Enterprise team to Gibraltar to help students become more aware of what Young Enterprise involves.
Another link is with a Middle School in Orange County, California. Initially, we plan to send six students to spend two weeks in California. Our students will visit the school, and a number of High Schools in the local area. They will then have the chance to work with teachers and children. The students will stay with a local family and at the weekend will be shown the sights of California. The trip is provisionally scheduled for May 2009. Participants will have to cover the costs of the flights and spending money, but accommodation and meals will be provided by the families.
More details of these amazing opportunities later!
May we take this opportunity to wish you all the best for your exams?
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 18 July.
Yours sincerely
Mr A J Clark Mrs D M Shelton
